Trends We’re Spotting at AAFW

As the seasons change, so do the fashion styles and trends. If you’re not already aware, this week was AAFW (Afterpay Australian Fashion Week) in Sydney and the Rntr. team took to the front row to scout the latest fashion trends we are loving.

This year was particularly special, with the first ever Curve Brands showcase. This first size-inclusive runway is an exciting win in Australian fashion as brands are becoming more representative of the Australian consumer, and fashion publications are following suit.

Fashion week this year set the tone for the new spring and summer trends to look forward to this year and next, and we ate it up!

Here’s what the Rntr. team has loved so far from AAFW.

THE TRENDS:

(from left to right)

  1. Pops of Green. We’re loving this bright accent colour and noticed it on a lot of the runways this week. From statement necklaces to key accessories, it feels fresh and fun but still timeless and works well into any outfit.

  2. Neon and Neutrals. This feels particularly elevated. We see the fun and trendiness in the neon, but pairing this with very practical pieces is fresh AND classic.

  3. Draping. There’s is something about draped silhouettes that really feels quite modern. We believe it’s the idea that women’s clothing no longer has to be form fitting to be appealing. We’re seeing a lot more movement and flow in these runways moments.

  4. Cut Outs. This is definitely a consistent spring and summer theme we are picking up on. From brands like SIR and Aje to Christopher Esber and more, cut outs will definitely be making appearances next season.

  5. Sheer Pieces. This is definitely not a trend for everyone, but the Rntr. styling team loves it. It’s giving Kate Moss in the early 90s, very trendy, very chic and always effortless.

  6. Cropped Looks. This is another trend that definitely won’t be for everyone but the very Y2K combination of a cropped top and low rise pants is making a huge comeback.
